DRAFT REVIEW: Black Butte Porter
RATING
90

The Black Buttes are certain to capture your imagination if you make it to Bend, Ore. to visit this beautiful brewrey. Both the original brewpub and the large 185-barrel brewhouse are in operation these days, so try to visit both. While there, grab a fresh pint of one of the nicest porters in the country. The aroma bears a hint of nuttiness, followed by the unmistakable smells of rich yet soft milk chocolate. While sipping, take note of the raisin and prune flavors as well as the roasted barley in every mouthful. Hop notes are plesant in the flavor as they aren't overpowering, but seem to push the malt out of the way at the perfect time. Softer carbonation and a robust body make this nearly black brew an enjoyable beer, and a perfect one to share at holiday gatherings.
