DRAFT REVIEW: Mud Puppy Porter
RATING
86

Mud Puppy pours a dark cola color with a fleeting tan head, but its aroma hangs in the air. Sweet toffee scents give way to rich milk chocolate and a dash of roasted coffee. Like the scent, the swallow’s malt-forward: Smooth toffee glides back before a bitter wave of roasted malts dig into the palate. Hints of chocolate sweeten the bitter sweep, while nuanced citrus and herbal hops add depth to the profile. While this beer could benefit from a slightly stronger malt backbone to support its bitterness, it still displays generous flavor.
