RATING
91
Weihenstephaner is the oldest brewery in the world: When monks started brewing atop Nahrberg Hill in 725 A.D. they could not have known that their brewery would still be standing more than 1,280 years later, lasting through the Crusades, the birth of Munich, and the German Purity Law of 1516. Though the world around the brewery has changed, one thing has remained constant: the quality beer. This Kristallweizen is a filtered version of a German hefeweizen. It isn't cloudy like the rest of these beers, but it does have some interesting flavors. The note of citrus is the most obvious trait in this beer, but there is a minor banana flavor, and virtually no hops in either the taste of smell. This is a very refreshing ale that should be enjoyed every summer.
