DRAFT REVIEW: Mai-Ur-Bock
RATING
94

From the home of the bock brewing tradition, we expected this beer to represent the Maibock style well. Rest assured: It does. With a truly malt-forward aroma and almost no hop presence, it shows off moderate, somewhat buttery caramel scents reminiscent of soft caramel squares. It’s gold, very clear, and shows off a tan, frothy head. The first sip emotes holiday desserts; caramely sweet with spice and caramelized plum. Magnificent overall, the body is rich and full, assertively carbonated, and not overpowering; plus, there’s just a touch of alcohol warmth. Mai-Ur-Bock finishes sweet and provides a gentle persistent bitterness on the sides of the tongue.
