DRAFT REVIEW: Doppelbock
RATING
87

This doppelbock pours brown in color, showing good clarity and a growing head. Its aroma has notes of plum and other fruits, with hints of bubblegum detected at the back of the palate along with other yeasty profiles. With touches of raisin, toffee, and moderate caramel, this is an easy-drinking interpretation of the style, but it suffers a bit from a fusel alcohol note that makes the beer a bit hotter than traditionally accepted. Finishing dry, there are mild lingering bitterness and winey notes in the aftertaste, along with subtle brown sugar. In all, this is a good, drinkable beer, even if a bit out of style for traditional doppelbocks.
