This beer might not come from the far reaches of Europe, but that doesn't mean it's not as good. New Belgium uses a special strain of yeast to reproduce the authentic taste associated with this style, which means it has the most important aspect down. Speaking of yeast, this beer has plenty of yeast complexity. Ripe fruit notes of cherries and spiciness are strong in the aroma of this brew. This brew's flavor exhibits nuances of these same esters and phenols and adds in some earthy notes. Malt flavors are complex and caramel-like and go great with this beer's banana flavors. The body of this beer is perfect for the style, staying strong enough throughout but never so strong it overwhelms.
