DRAFT REVIEW: Affligem Dubbel
RATING
85

The carbonation level of this beer was so high, it seemed every bottle of Affligem we opened couldn't wait to be poured. This led to a tall, rocky head that stuck around the entire drink, and held in the aroma superbly. That same aroma released notes of grape skins and plenty of hidden fruit smells. Although there was a slight hoppy aroma, there didn't seem to be enough to give a good impression of the hops' variety. In the taste we noticed astringency and even some metallic notes, but also some molasses and caramel flavors. Hidden behind these malty flavors were some intrivate yeast notes, but none besides the dark cherry came through very forcefully. This wasn't the strongest showing for the style, but it was easy to drink and kept us guessing what would come next.
