RATING
85
This brew is brown with orange highlights and a thin, tan head. Its aroma is somewhat messy with cloves, alcohol, pepper, and apples all clamoring for attention. The smell is good, but lacks depth and complexity for the style. The flavor is sturdy with lightly toasted grains, some caramelization and red apple with pie-cherry sweetness. Like the aroma, however, each taste is pronounced, but not complex or rich. It’s a medium-full bodied brew with low carbonation, understated alcohol, and a somewhat watery finish.
