Belgian Dubbel
ABV: 7.0%
IBU: 21
RATING
93
Belgian monks have brewed this beer for more than 100 years, and to this day, they put out one of the most drinkable dubbels in the world. Chimay Red pours a red coppery color with a head that diminishes faster than expected. From the start you'll notice a bouquet of peach and apricot flavors alongside some citrus notes, and those tastes linger through the swallow and on your tongue until the last sip. Robust malt flavors also wash over your mouth and merge seamlessly with tobacco, wood, and nectar flavors. As with most dubbels, the hop presence is low to nonexistent in both the aroma and taste. This ale's body is moderately thick with a higher level of carbonation, which makes the body feel slightly less filling.
