DRAFT REVIEW: Kriek
RATING
89

From the town of Lembeek (where lambics were born) comes this quality example of a cherry, or kriek, lambic. The cherry in the aroma is mostly tart -- reminiscent of baking cherries. There are some barnyard aromas in thie beer as well as some horsey notes. The somewhat weak pink head is accompanied by a hazy, light red coloration of the beer and doesn't have a lot of flair to it. However, the flavor is very exciting: Instead of sweetness innate in many fruit lambics, this kriek plays up its sour tones. The mouthfeel is great and makes every sip better than the last. Relaly the only thing going against this beer is the lack of freshness in the cherry flavor.
