DRAFT REVIEW: Old Boardhead '05
RATING
89

Each year, John Harris, Full Sail's brewmaster, unleashes many new creatiosn on the public. However, the one brew he comes back to every year -- and does his best to improve -- is Old Boardhead. Full Sail's latest vintage is a well-balanced barleywine that retains a clean copper color and a good head. The aroma is marked by rich fruit notes of raisin and plum that complement the deep hop aroma. The experience continues into the flavor; the brew is easy to drink and has a drawn-out hop bitterness. The alcohol could be turned down just a touch, but this is, after all, a barleywine. The sweetness of this brew is perhaps its most memorable aspect and makes it appealing to a broader audience than just beer geeks.
