DRAFT REVIEW: Chicory Stout
RATING
90

Some beers can't be pigeonholed into one particular category, but for reviewing's sake, we're calling this one an American Stout. It's certainly not your average stout, though: It's packed with unique ingredients like chicory wood, St. John's Wort, roasted coffee, and licorice root. Even with all these extra ingredients, this beer still retains all the classic tastes of a quality stout. In the nose, the roasted malts come through along with the woody chicory flavor, while the taste is very earthy and chocolaty with flowery notes that finish smoothly with the moderate hops. This beer might not fit standard style definitions, but we're pretty glad it doesn't conform.
