DRAFT REVIEW: Olde School Barleywine
RATING
86

Olde School keeps its composure despite gargantuan ABV and IBUs. An intricate aroma pairs apricot, plum, apple and orange with sharp, peppery spice; breathe deeper to find subtle hints of cinnamon. Smooth caramel sweeps the tongue while hints of leather and dark fruit seep into the taste buds. Mid-sip, the beer’s alcohol catches up, drying the mouth before latching onto the back of the throat. Though it displays little hop flavor, Olde School’s got bitterness in spades, which combines with the alcohol to quiet the finish.
