DRAFT REVIEW: Shakespeare Stout
RATING
95

To drink or not to drink, that is (always) the question. With its thick, dark head and 6% ABV, the Shakespeare Stout might scare off the novice drinker. However, this beer is smooth, balanced, and fulfilling, and to miss this enjoyable experience would be nothing short of a tragedy. Coffee and slightly sweet caramel notes start this beer off, followed by a malty richness that is perfectly balanced with a smooth and suprisingly potent hop character. The flavor finishes with a pleasant, lingering aftertaste -- althought, this incredibly high-scoring brew would have scored even higher had the carbonation been a touch lower. All in all, this is a poetic stout that lives up to its namesake.
