DRAFT REVIEW: Convict Hill Oatmeal Stout
RATING
91

A rich, malty aroma rises up from the thick, tan head of this inky brew. Coffee and cream scents intertwine with dark chocolate and roasted grains for a bold bouquet. A wealth of roasted malts land on the tongue and pick up milk chocolate sweetness. Mid-sip, nutty oat flavors emerge and draw out the beer’s earthy hops. This silky brew coats the tongue before roasted bitterness and spritzy carbonation cut through the flavors for a dry finish. In the end, chocolate and light nuttiness last on the tongue while gentle alcohol warmth grows in the chest.
