DRAFT REVIEW: El Toro Negro Oatmeal Stout
RATING
90

Capped by an enduring soft tan head, this oatmeal stout boasts a rich malt aroma marked by sweet caramel and sharp roast, though fruity esters manage to work in some apricot scents. Dark roasted malts tease the tip of the tongue before a wave of cream balances out the bitterness. This coffee-and-cream doppelganger washes to the back while oatmeal lends silkiness to the mouthfeel and light nuttiness to the flavor. Just before the swallow, subtle pear esters emerge; they linger on alongside roast after the beer’s dry finish.
