Warsteiner is a bright, gold brew that glows in the light as its foamy white crown quickly disappears. Its aroma is laced with modest earthy and flowery hops and soft sulfur-yeast notes. The flavor is straightforward: Candy-sweet malts are simple yet satisfying, and the hop spice is gentle. While this version is a quality example of the style, the beer lacks the bright hop quality expected in a German pilsner. Though, with its light body, active carbonation and dry finish, the beer is refreshing and drinkable. |
