DRAFT REVIEW: Sawtooth Ale
RATING
93

This crisp, clean penny-colored brew wears a big, bubbly head that seems to push the aroma into the nose: An enticing balance of earthy hops and caramel scents fill the bouquet. Carbonation immediately perks the taste buds on the front of the tongue, preparing them for an initial charge of earthy, dank hops. Although hops hit first, tongue-coating sweet malts become the dominant characteristic; it rises up mid-sip. The flavor segues into a bitter dryness that settles in the back, which eliminates some of the beer’s residual sweetness and creates a dry, subtle malt finish.
