DRAFT REVIEW: Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout
RATING
88

It’s evident from the get-go this beer’s made with coffee: It smells like a spiked cup of joe. Take another moment to breathe in some of the bouquet’s nuances, like the licorice ornaments, sweet malt, smoky hues, and earthy notes akin to coffee grounds. The theme continues on the tongue, with a big coffee flavor up front that lingers through the whole swallow. Some milk chocolate emerges, briefly transforming the flavor into a mocha, and even a little tropical fruit sweetness hits a high note in the middle. This stout’s undoubtedly a mouthful, and the alcohol is well-pronounced, burning into the chest during the long-lasting finish.
