DRAFT REVIEW: Shiner Hefeweizen
RATING
84

This hazy, yellow-gold brew pours with a healthy white head that springs a wheaty, banana aroma with a surprising hop display. The unorthodox hop flavors assert themselves again in the swallow with some floral notes and moderate bitterness. The flavor otherwise has the trappings of a well-made hefe, with barley sweetness in the front that quickly flows into snappy lemon flavors. Remarkably refreshing, it doesn’t offer the fullness expected in the style; its effervescence sparkles on the tongue before it comes to a dry conclusion with peppery hop spice deep into the aftertaste.
