This winter seasonal wears an amber hue topped with a large, cream-color head. The aroma is comforting: ripe melon, alcohol, earthy hops, and black pepper undertones merge in a balanced and welcoming bouquet. The taste does not quite follow suit, as it displays bitter, nutty notes; plum and toffee sweetness -- and a wallop of alcohol. The hot alcohol plays up the bitterness, rendering an intense swallow. Old Jubilation is full-bodied, but not heavy or cloyingly sweet, and has a stiff alcohol presence with slightly harsh bitterness in the aftertaste.
