DRAFT REVIEW: Honey Orange Wheat
RATING
87

Brewed under the Eugene City Brewery label, this Rogue product pours hazy pale gold with a palpable off-white head. Its aroma is meadlike, due to the addition of honey (an Oregon wildflower variety). The flavor is also initially honey-sweet, with unmalted wheat and husky grain notes hitting the tongue before bursting into orange flavors that last well into the aftertaste. The honey character is smooth and light in body, and the orange adds a fruity roundness to the beer (which some might perceive as overzealous) trying hard to fit in, but ultimately distracting a bit from the beer’s overall quality. The aftertaste, however, is a pleasant mingling of balanced bitter tastes and smooth honey sweetness.
