DRAFT REVIEW: Chipotle Ale
RATING
95

For those who like kick in their beer, this brew bests all. Its frothy cream head presents a relatively unstartling aroma: Gentle caramel malt reaches the nose first with just the slightest smoky, pepper brushes. The brew begins as an amber; a clean, slightly caramelized malt base hints at the base style’s excellence. Grassy hops peek in for just a moment before chipotle’s spicy, peppery heat overtakes the tongue and creeps down the back of the throat. Heat radiates after each sip, building into a nice burn and lingering long after the last drop of liquid is gone. What’s most striking about this beer is how well it pushes the limits of what beer can be without becoming novelty.
