ABV: 5.0%

RATING
86
Golden Ale weighs in with a light 5% ABV, making a nice addition to Terrapin’s otherwise hefty lineup. It’s a pale gold-hued beer, with good clarity and a thin, white head. The aroma is mellow, with earthy and musty notes coming through. Golden Ale tastes of dull, peppery hop spice, only slightly bitter, with toasted white-bread sweetness. While apparently fresh (according to the “best before” date), the beer presents a somewhat aged quality, lacking pop from the hops that would make this a more refreshing beer. Finishing dry, there’s an assertive spicy bitterness in the aftertaste, coming on a bit late and edging this beer into the American pale ale category. It’s a medium-bodied beer with significant carbonation and very low alcohol heat. While Golden Ale has no technical flaws, the initial dull flavors and aromas impair the overall drinkability.
