DRAFT REVIEW: Harpoon Ale
RATING
93

Harpoon’s flagship beer pours with exquisite beauty, a clear and deep gold color with a massive, sturdy crown. The beer’s aroma is faint, with scents of toasted whole-grain bread mingling with lemongrass and orange blossoms. The taste isn’t bashful; initially, it bursts with lightly caramelized grains and more toasted bread, then finds its balance with spicy, citrusy hops. The pale ale’s bitterness never overtakes the palate, but is strong enough to feel on the cheeks and tongue. Harpoon is medium-bodied, has a mild carbonation level. and finishes fairly dry. Further restrained bitterness and some lemon flavors last well into the aftertaste, finishing off a fantastic drinking experience.
