A European favorite for good reason, this beer shows off an aroma of husky grains, cocoa powder, and mild smoke, with no real sign of hops or alcohol. The flavor follows suit, with graininess and mild sweetness in the beginning, balanced well by earthy hop flavors and mild bitterness. Monkey Wrench finishes dry, and you'll notice the same cocoa hints in the aroma lasting into the aftertaste. Also look for astringency, as it seems to enhance the husky graininess. This brew is medium-bodied, with mild alcohol and fine bubbles that dance on the tongue -- not acidic and without bite. |
