Pouring dark ruby with a thin, creamy layer of tan head, Elizabethan Ale’s aroma bursts with big malt sweetness: Alluring bold caramel joined with fresh fig, tobacco and leather scents burst from the glass. Biscuity malts land on the tongue first before they’re consumed by a prune and dark cherry surge. These bold, sweet fruits dominate the mouth, splashing back against the throat before sinking deep into the tongue. While this beer could benefit from amped-up bitterness, the lingering sweet notes on the tongue are still satisfying.
