St. Bernardus Tripel
Belgian Tripel
ABV: 8.0% IBU: Unknown |
Looking for a place to stay on your next trip to Belgium? Make your way to the St. Bernardus Brewery in Watou -- just a couple hours west of Brussels -- and book a tour of the brewery. You will likely sample too many fine Belgian beers to make the return trip, so book a room at the adjoining bed and breakfast where the head brewer lives. If you're lucky, you can chat with him about this St. Bernardus tripel. It opens with a slight clove-like aroma and fruity esters. While the clean flavor doesn't have quite as many phenol (clove) notes as the nose, there is a bit of peppery spiciness to entice the palate. This brew concludes with effervescence and a slightly warming, dry finish. We think you'll agree that it's worth the trip. |
