DRAFT REVIEW: Cali-Belgique IPA
RATING
88

An aromatic blend of mint, black pepper and clove hints at this Belgian IPA’s mélange of flavors. A solid, grainy malt backbone supports a rainbow of grapefruit, white pepper, basil and mint, as they harmoniously flow over the tongue; the solid grainy malt backbone supports them. Touches of clove emerge in the back while the alcohol fuses with black pepper for a spicy kick. With its subtle grapefruit hop notes and tame bitterness, this beer doesn’t deliver an overt American hop profile, but its garden flavors are well-orchestrated.
