DRAFT REVIEW: Coal Stoker's Blackberry Ale
RATING
84

Technically a wheat-stout hybrid blended with blackberry juice, Coal Stoker's is complex. In the aroma, blackberry strikes an even balance with the beer’s toasted bread crust and roasted malt scents. Roasted malts and grainy wheat blend with sweet-tart blackberry as the beer swells back; fruit digs into the sides of the tongue along the way. In the back, roasted malt bitterness clashes with sharp, earthy blackberry for a finish that’s a bit too harsh; pleasant lingering blackberry sweetness makes up for the bite.
