DRAFT REVIEW: Captain Fantasy
RATING
90

Those lucky enough to get a hold of this limited release are greeted with subtle pear notes thoughtfully matched to a saison’s classic pepper spice. Light pear scents rise into the nose with white pepper, while dandelion and grassy hops give the aroma fresh earthiness. On the tongue, crackerlike malts prop up a pear-and-pepper pairing, while rustic hay notes add a bucolic accent in the back. Pear is an unusual beer ingredient, but it nicely complements this style, stringing a light fruitiness through the
flavor without overwhelming the beer’s more delicate nuances.
