DRAFT REVIEW: Hofbrau Maibock
RATING
88

From scent to swallow, this classic German beer is a delicious showcase of malt flavors. Sweet honey winds through biscuit and toasted bread crust scents, creating a rich aroma. Toasted bread flavors swell on the tongue, then spread out with hints of bread crust and traces of toffee. Earthy hops fleck the swallow before bitterness and warming alcohol counter the beer’s sweeter flavors, albeit a little forcefully. The full German malt profile comes to a finish that’s a bit too bitter-dry for the style.
