DRAFT REVIEW: Breidablik Barley Wine
RATING
89

Intense sherry scents burst from the glass; sweet toffee, leather and tobacco hints hit the nose next. This brew’s malt complexity sets it apart: Biscuit notes carry sweet tobacco and leather, while caramel and honey slather the tongue in sweetness. Well-timed roasted malt and hop bitterness cut through the rich flavor for a gentle finish, leaving soft alcohol warmth glowing in the chest. A brighter hop presence would more closely align this beer to the style, but its malt profile is still impressive on its own.
