DRAFT REVIEW: Cane and Ebel
RATING
94

Billed as a red rye ale, this brew’s specialty malt elevates the amber style with a pleasant spicy kick. Cane and Ebel’s aroma is thick and complex: Rye scents connect with sharp orange while rich toasted bread and caramel give the bouquet some weight. On the tongue, orange hop notes slice right down the middle, cutting through sweet and toasted malts as a subtle rye twang works at the sides. Just before a drying finish, a singular rye note flashes in the back—an appropriate end for this cohesive, balanced brew.
