DRAFT REVIEW: Victory At Sea
RATING
90

Despite its brooding appearance, Victory at Sea eases the senses with a rich aroma and luscious swallow. Heavy dark chocolate balloons in the nose, laced with light spicy pepper and black licorice accents. As the beer washes back, roasted malts segue to dark chocolate, and then to black coffee. Subtle vanilla and hazelnut pull a smooth sweetness through the creamy beer, while a touch of alcohol spice maintains a slight edge. Hops lend some bitterness to the beer’s light roast and alcohol, culminating in a long dry finish with light coffee notes left on the tongue.
