So clear you could read through it, this crystalline beer tops off with a foamy white head that slowly fizzes away. Subdued, sweet grains and baked bread scents greet the nose as grassy hops inject vigor into the aroma. As the beer splashes onto the tongue, spicy, bitter hops accentuate a carbonic bite that grips the mouth. Armed with mild fruity esters, the faint, sweet malts attempt to hold their ground, but the hop muscle pushes back. While a stronger cracker flavor would bring this beer closer to tradition, it’s still a refreshing illustration of the helles style. |
