Inky black with a dark tan head, this imperial stout doesn’t play down its smoky allure. Smoldering scents waft over dark chocolate, while ripened banana and black licorice add sweet, spicy accents. This creamy beer’s roasted malts wash over the tongue, coating the mouth with banana and plum; smokiness builds with each sip, adding a nice aged quality to the profile. While the intertwining flavors are stunning, strong alcohol heat works aggressively against the experience, burning the throat after a few sips. Laying this beer down will cure the heat, although some smoke will dissipate, too. |
