DRAFT REVIEW: Scrimshaw
RATING
89

Brewed against the beautiful backdrop of the Pacific, Scrimshaw’s as variegated as the NoCal coast. The color is a touch darker than anticipated; warm, honey gold with a frothy, white head. Though wonderful, the aroma is a bit heavy for the style with a lot of malt sweetness and sticky, piney hop scents. The swallow is closer to a pale ale, starting with ample two-row malt sweetness, followed by lemony, zesty hop tastes. The beer’s soft nature, however, is spot-on for the style. Water, carbonation, and alcohol come together to create a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a crisp, dry finish and mild fruity aftertaste.
