DRAFT REVIEW: Fruli
RATING
88

It might not follow the BJCP fruit beer guidelines to a T, but everyone knows somebody who’d obsess over this concoction. Pouring a pinkish-orange with a bubbly white head, the aroma’s nothing short of putting your nose in a blender of ripe strawberries. On the tongue, sugary, strawberry sodalike flavors dominate, covering almost all characters of the Belgian witbier base style. As the flavors progress, the sweetness transforms into a lively tart finish. Slight hop bitterness combines with the beer’s heavy carbonation to prevent this brew from becoming cloying, yet a very nice strawberry essence lingers in the mouth long after the swallow. Calling Früli a divisive beer is a bit strong, but it’s certainly a conversation starter.
