DRAFT REVIEW: Pump House Porter
RATING
86

A pillowy tan head with spacious bubbles blankets this dark brown robust porter, while a roasted malt aroma, with hints of sweet caramel and grain, rise to the nose. Despite a mouthfeel that’s somewhat thin for the style, the flavor packs big bitterness and a roasted grain sharpness that’s pleasantly smoothed with a slight lactose presence, and complementary nuttiness. While Pump House delivers big flavors, it’s still a sessionable beer. Its flavors wash over the palate instead of coating it, and the beer’s dry finish, with a slight grain astringency, entices the palate for another drink.
