DRAFT REVIEW: Up the Creek Extreme IPA
RATING
82

There’s not much pale to this IPA, as it drenches the glass in gorgeous mahogany with russet highlights and a frothy, tan head. Heavy lacing from the alcohol is a barefaced hint to not stick your nose deep into the bouquet. Instead, let the aroma waft to you with its gentle floral and orange scents. The swallow is boozy and best taken in sips, as the river of alcohol heats from the tongue’s tip to the depth of the chest. It’s like a hop cocktail, without distinguishable varieties but just a barrage of telltale pronounced grassy notes and juicy citrus flavors. Let it warm to draw out lovely sherry and raisin  accents. Overall, this is a slow-sipper today that will even out and gain cohesion with age.
