DRAFT REVIEW: Mermaid's Red
RATING
89

This brew pours deep brown with red highlights -- a little darker than most -- and wears a thick, bubbly head. The nose is hop-forward with kicky citrus notes and sweet caramel brushes; the two scents spar well. Big, sticky sweetness with burnt sugar and toasted malt reaches the tongue first before aggressive hops take hold. Pronounced grapefruit flavors and peppery spice grip the tongue and clutch well into the aftertaste. While balanced, this brew’s largesse makes it quite a mouthful.
