Petrus Oud Bruin
Flanders Red Ale
ABV: 5.5% IBU: 17 |
Petrus pours dark amber with good clarity and a foamy, beige head. Fragrances of wild yeast, oak, and soft sour cherry float up from the glass. The flavor is simple and not jarring, particularly appealing to those making a first sojourn in this style: There’s a rush of syrupy cherry sweetness, followed quickly by soft acidics ourness and woody oak notes like those in red wine. This is a thin beer with fine, effervescent bubbles and a very smooth alcohol presence. Oud Bruin finishes remarkably dry, with a tart quality that lasts well into the aftertaste. |
