Obovoid
Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 7.0% IBU: 40 |
This brew is made with oats, and a small percentage of the batch is aged on oak chips. It’s dark brown, nearly black, with streaks of garnet glowing around the edges. The aroma, comprised primarily of dry oats and roasted barley, is tame, yet hides the elevated alcohol well. The first sip is packed with heavy, roasted barley. There is a slightly astringent bite on the cheeks and, while not being domineering, the oak’s dry woody flavors shine through the back of the mouth. Big and creamy, the brew has moderate carbonation and understated alcohol warmth in the throat. |
