DRAFT REVIEW: Hefe Weisse Dunkel
RATING
90

This brew is a staple for many wheat beer drinkers: It’s one of the most obtainable and populardunkelweizens in the States. It starts cloudy amber with a big, off-white head. The aroma has ripe bananas with low levels of clove spice, all dulled slightly by old yeast notes. A bold, lemon-tart wheat taste kicks the tongue, alongside assertive banana and restrained clove and allspice. The sweetness is tempered by mild earthy hops and slightly acidic carbonation. The soft, medium-bodied brew finishes dry with mild alcohol warmth.
