DRAFT REVIEW: Black Lager
RATING
93

This is the darkest beer in Sam Adams’ arsenal, pouring deep brown with ruby highlights and a big, brown head. The aroma wafts with dried, roasted barley along with faint fig notes. The flavor washes over the tongue in waves of soft molasses and caramel sweetness, followed with mild dark cherries. There is only a mild roasted grain flavor and very little hops, just a touch of floral tones, black pepper spices, and low bitterness. Black Lager’s body is impressively creamy, light-bodied, and soft. The beer finishes dry and with a molasses flavor lasting long after the swallow.
