DRAFT REVIEW: Black Toad Dark Ale
RATING
89

Black Toad pours rich mahogany, topped with a large lacy, beige crown. Powerful walnut scents, threaded with sweet caramelized malts stream from the glass, creating a compelling bouquet. The swallow is equally engrossing: Flawless creamy caramel sweetness lulls over the tongue. Acrid roasted nuts dig deep and dry the sides of the cheeks, and are a bit burly for the style. Hops are a nice garnish; gentle spice and mild bitterness skim the palate and linger through the dry finish.
