DRAFT REVIEW: Brown Ale
RATING
88

Playfully bubbly, this very clear, deep mahogany brew fills the air with toasted malts, subtly sweet caramel undertones, and spicy black pepper hops. Though it treads lightly on the tongue, this brown ale delivers a wealth of malt flavors: A sweet toast-and-caramel flavor hits the tongue first, then washes back to blend with the hop spice. On the sides of the tongue, a touch of malt bitterness mixes with the hops creating a dry finish that’s not overly sharp, but cleans the mouth of any lingering sweetness. Balanced throughout -- both malt and hops have a chance to shine -- this brown ale’s a lock for those with a penchant for bitterness.
