Obscura is a gold-brown brew topped with a vigorous, frothy head. Although soft, sugary sweetness and mild husky grains barely waft from the glass to the nose, the first taste reveals an assertive malt character: Toasted, nutty malts are deftly countered by a pronounced sweetness. The hops are just ornaments, with very low bitterness and mild floral, peppery flavors peeking through. Though clean, the flavor would benefit from a brighter hop presence and more oomph in the body.
