DRAFT REVIEW: Capital Wisconsin Amber
RATING
89

Capital Brewery focuses on brewing great-tasting beer, realizing that its brew might not exactly fit within the accepted style parameters. In that vein, this beer is only loosely based on the Vienna style, so it doesn't have quite the same flavor profile as other examples in this category. Still, it has won plenty of accolades at competitions that take the style guidelines into serious consideration. The rich amber color and good lacing make this beer pleasant to behold, but don't look too long: You won't want to miss the magnificent aroma, which offers notes of fresh-baked bread and caramel. From the first drink, you'll pick up a wonderful sweetness before some other minor spices and a nice floral bitterness from the hops kick in. This beer can have a cloying finish at times, but it always remains very drinkable.
